Jamie nodded -- partly to show that he acknowledged she said something, and partly to show that, on some level, he understood what she was saying -- because he didn't trust himself to reply to that directly without coming across as petty, a tactic he'd just realized wasn't going to get him -- or them, for that matter -- anywhere.
